Advocacy and Leadership

The fourth of the five standards for school librarians established by the ALA / AASL focuses on Advocacy and Leadership. This standard addresses a librarian’s ability to communicate the value of his or her program to key stakeholders. A librarian is responsible for developing a network of support, pursuing relevant professional development, creating quality programming, and supporting students, teachers, administrators and parents within the school community.
